SIP005: Fusion Finale
Summary
Fusion Finale proposes a controlled, time-bound programme to wind down and retire the Fused Hound Fusion mechanics, allowing the community to determine the final number of Fused Hounds through voluntary participation within a defined timeframe.
This SIP:
-
Brings the Fusion lifecycle to a clear and intentional close
-
Preserves community choice in determining the final supply
-
Winds down Fusion Materials and Fusion infrastructure
-
Removes long-term maintenance and ecosystem complexity
-
Earmark unminted Megas and Legendaries for Serum Corp to mint and distribute through Jail Break and Hostage Exchange.
The outcome is a clean, community-driven end-state for Fusion and a simplified asset landscape.
Opportunity
Fusion has been one of the most engaging mechanics in MCW history. However, it was never intended to remain open perpetually.
Fusion Finale creates value by:
-
Allowing the community to decide the final Fused Hound supply organically
-
Preserving the original Fusion experience without forced outcomes
-
Preventing ongoing fragmentation of Fusion Materials
-
Retiring aging smart contracts and UI flows
-
Avoiding overlap with new onboarding, branding, or Jailbreak initiatives
Fusion Finale Objective
-
Fusion Finale defines a final opportunity window for Fusion
-
The final number of Fused Hounds is not predetermined
-
Supply is determined solely by completed Fusions during the active window
-
Fusion is formally designated as a completed system after sunset
Proposed Mechanics & Timeline
1. Mechanics and infrastructure (Month 1)
Mechanics and infrastructure developed and launched by Novel Labs
2. Final Fusion Window (Months 2-4)
A 3-month Final Fusion Window opens upon SIP approval.
During this period:
-
Existing Fusion mechanics remain active
-
Existing Fusion Materials may be used normally
-
Participation is entirely voluntary
This window preserves player agency and respects prior investment.
3. Mega and Legendary minting (Conclusion of Month 4)
Serum Corp actions:
-
Mint the remaining Mega and Legendary Fused Hounds
-
Hold in the stockpile collection until released via Jail Break or Hostage Exchange
4. Fusion Material Wind-Down & Burn Phase (Months 5-7)
Following the Final Fusion Window, a 3-month wind-down phase begins.
During this phase:
-
Fusion Materials no longer have Fusion utility
-
Hounds may no longer be burned for Fusing Materials
-
Holders may voluntarily burn Fusion Materials
-
Burned materials are exchanged for $SERUM
-
Burn rates are:
-
Defined and capped by Serum Corp
-
Published before activation
-
No forced burning occurs. Unused materials simply expire after sunset.
5. Fusion System Sunset (Past Month 7)
At the conclusion of the wind-down phase:
-
Fusion smart contracts are disabled
-
Fusion-related UI and services are retired
-
Fusion Materials have no remaining utility
-
Fusion is preserved as a completed historical system
Post-Finale State
After Fusion Finale concludes:
-
The final Fused Hound supply is community-determined
-
Fusion Materials are deprecated
-
Fusion infrastructure is fully retired
-
Future MCW initiatives operate without Fusion dependencies
-
Collars may still be burned for Mutant Hounds
Fusion remains a closed chapter, not a lingering mechanic.
Funding & Treasury Impact
-
Any $SERUM issued via Fusion Material burns is:
-
Capped
-
Governed by Serum Corp
-
Published in advance
-
-
No external funding is required
-
No ongoing operational costs remain post-sunset
Net effect:
-
Asset simplification
-
Reduced technical overhead
-
Clear $SERUM alignment without inflation shock
Success Metrics
Fusion Finale is successful if:
-
Fusion participation concludes cleanly within the timeframe
-
Fusion Materials are materially reduced and retired
-
Fusion contracts and UI are fully sunset
-
No ongoing confusion or support burden remains
-
The community understands Fusion as complete
